The problem

Mewgenics is a Windows game that requires OpenGL 4.4. Apple never supported OpenGL 4.x on Apple Silicon and deprecated the API entirely. There is no native Mac port.

General compatibility tools like CrossOver ($74/year) or manual Wine configurations can run many titles, but they aren't tuned for Mewgenics' custom rendering engine. Results vary, setup is manual, and the cost doesn't match a single-game need.

Silicon Paw exists to solve this one problem well.

What this is

Silicon Paw is a macOS utility that creates an isolated, pre-configured environment to run Mewgenics on supported Apple Silicon Macs.

It handles

  • Wine environment setup and management
  • Custom OpenGL-to-Metal driver deployment
  • Steam download and installation
  • One-click game launch with optimized settings
  • DLL integrity checks on every launch
  • Built-in diagnostics and repair

It does not

  • Include Mewgenics — you need your own Steam copy
  • Replace Steam — real authentication, no emulators
  • Work as a general compatibility tool — one game only
  • Require CrossOver, Parallels, or any other software
  • Modify the game executable or bypass DRM

Frequently asked questions

Does this include the game?

No. Silicon Paw is the compatibility tool only. You need to own Mewgenics on Steam ($14.99).

Do I need a legitimate Steam copy?

Yes. Silicon Paw launches the game through real Steam authentication. You must log into your own account and own the game. There is no emulator or DRM bypass.

Is this an official product?

No. Silicon Paw is an independent project. It is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Team Meat, Tyler Glaiel, Valve, or Steam.

Which Macs are supported?

Apple Silicon only: M1, M2, M3, M4 — including Pro, Max, and Ultra variants. You need macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later.

Does this work on Intel Macs?

No. The OpenGL-to-Metal translation stack requires Apple's Metal GPU architecture on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs are not supported.

Do I need CrossOver or Parallels?

No. Silicon Paw uses its own isolated Wine environment with custom-built Mesa drivers. No other compatibility software is needed.

Do I need to install Steam separately?

Not on your Mac directly. Silicon Paw downloads the Windows Steam client automatically during first-time setup and runs it inside its own environment.

Do I need to install Wine?

Yes. Wine Staging 11.4 must be installed on your Mac before using Silicon Paw. It is free.

What if it doesn't work on my supported system?

Use the built-in Export Logs button to generate a diagnostics report and contact support. If the issue cannot be resolved, refunds are available within 30 days of purchase.

Is the purchase one-time?

Yes. One payment, no subscription. You get permanent access to the current version and updates for the supported configuration.

What happens if Mewgenics or macOS updates?

Game updates through Steam are generally compatible since Silicon Paw uses DLL overrides that survive Steam updates. Major macOS updates may require a Silicon Paw update. We aim to maintain compatibility but cannot guarantee indefinite support for future OS or game versions.

How does it work technically?

Silicon Paw runs a custom build of Mesa Zink (cross-compiled as Windows DLLs) that translates OpenGL 4.4 calls to Vulkan. MoltenVK then translates Vulkan to Apple's Metal API. The game runs inside Wine with real Steam authentication. No game modifications, no emulators.

What kind of support is available?

Best-effort support for verified compatible systems. Contact via the email below. Silicon Paw includes a built-in diagnostics export to help troubleshoot issues efficiently.
